At 9 am on Sunday storeowners in Tehran’s “Berlin” neighborhood staged strikes and closed their stores for one hour. This protest rally was in response to pressures imposed by state officials to extort and gain more taxes under various pretexts. The fed up storeowners said the recent intense security clampdown in Tehran has dealt a major blow to their businesses and now state agents are seeking to gain even more taxes from them under any pretext possible.
