Lebanon: calls for further demonstrations in Beirut

Following two days of street protests in Beirut that left 99 members of the security forces and 61 civilians injured – forcing the army to replace security forces in the streets of the Lebanese capital – security forces on Tuesday, August 25th were seen blocking the main roads leading to the Lebanese Prime Ministry building with large cement blast walls.

On Monday Lebanon witnessed various actions by the government and different political movements announcing their stance on the recent developments. The organizers of the demonstrations are directing a campaign called, “You Stink” and they have called for their supporters to stage yet another demonstration this coming Saturday.
