
The 67th sit-in day of Ashraf residents’ families and Iranians in US was transferred from New York to Washington on Monday. The supporters of Iranian Resistance started their sit-in in front of White House in Washington, and by rallying and chanting slogans in support of Ashraf residents vowed on their demands regarding guarantee of Ashraf protection.
The families of Ashraf residents announced that after 65 days of sit-in outside of the UN building in New York in order to draw attention of the UN Secretary General and Security Council to the situation of Ashraf residents, and following the UN Secretary General issued its report that included UNAMI activities and the letter of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) about the rights of Ashraf residents, the sit-in would be continued in front of the White House. The sit-in participants keep emphasizing that protection of Ashraf residents is US responsibility based on international conventions and law as long as the US forces stay in Iraq.
The “Committee of Ashraf Residents’ Families in US” announced: “The sit-in participants in Washington outside of the White House, as the sit-in participants outside of the UN European headquarters, demand guarantee of Ashraf residents’ protection and intervention of the UN Secretary General, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and other relevant entities to guarantee Ashraf residents’ rights and continuance of Ashraf protection by the US forces based on international conventions and law.”
