Saudi Arabia calls on Russia to stop military operations in Syria

Saudi Ambassador to the United Nations Abdullah al-Mualemi expressed his concerns regarding Russian military operations in Syria and called on Moscow to stop its attacks.
“Creating a buffer zone in Syria demands a widespread coalition to confront the root of the problems,” he said, going on to describe the root as the Assad regime refusing to implement the Geneva-1 agreement.
“Bashar Assad cannot be part of the war on terrorism because this regime itself is the representative of terrorism,” he added.
“Those who have entered Syrian soil under the pretext of the war against terrorism are supporting the terrorism of the Assad regime and its allies, such as Hezbollah and the Quds Force,” al-Mualemi added.
He also called on Iran to not politicize the Mena incident and demanded Tehran stop interfering in its neighbors’ affairs.
