Iraqis throughout the country are continuing the wave of condemnations and protests against Ahmadinejad’s upcoming visit to Baghdad.
The Association of Iraqi Kurdish Writers issued a statement saying, “While Iraq’s prime minister and his government have tainted the true image of our country due to their cooperation with Iran in transferring weapons and ammunition to the Assad dictatorship, there is no doubt the entrance of the Iranian regime’s president to our country will be an insult to the Iraqi people’s dignity and against our interests.”
The Iraq Association of Physicians and Students in Defense of Human Rights announced, “We condemn Ahmadinejad’s visit to Iraq and call on Iraqi government figures to not have meetings with this criminal who has been international and popularly out casted. We also call for his international prosecution for his crimes against the people of Iran and Iraq.”
The Iraqi Civil Organizations Association issued a call for nationwide demonstrations against Ahmadinejad’s visit to Iraq and announced, “Ahmadinejad’s visit to Iraq is taking place while is at its weakest political status. The objective of this visit is to save the regime from its crises and economic punishments. In our opinion, Ahmadinejad has brought nothing but evil and destruction for Iraq. Welcoming Ahmadinejad by a government that doesn’t represent the people is unacceptable. Therefore, we call on the Iraqi people to demonstrate and protest against this visit.”
The Iraqi Nationalistic Movements Association in Diyala Province issued a statement announcing, “Ahmadinejad’s presence in Baghdad is an insult to the Iraqi’s Arabic identity. We strongly condemn the visit by Iran’s president and call on the Iraqi people to protest this visit.”
