Yemen: Clashes reported between Houthis & Salah loyalists

With increasing blows suffered by Houthi rebels and troops loyal to ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Salah, divides and clashes between these two groups are on the rise.
Clashes have sparked between so-called Republican Guard elements linked to ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Salah and Houthi militants in a number of bases in Sana’a have, security sources in Sana’a reported to Al Arabiya TV.
These clashes erupted when Republican Guard elements were not willing to obey orders issued by the Houthis to enter battlefronts in Ma’rib and Sa’dah provinces. In response the Houthis attempted to confiscate their weapons, facing stiff resistance from Republican Guard elements. 10 people on both sides were killed and a number of others were injured.
Two Republican Guard commanders were also accused of treason and supporting Iran.
Similar clashes have erupted between these two parties, with Republican Guard elements disobeying orders from the Houthis and not taking part in the battles in various provinces across Yemen. Former Yemen army commanders have been seeing declaring their loyal to the legitimate government in Aden.
Houthi militants are in chaos after advances made by popular resistance forces and Yemen National Army forces in Ma’rib Province.
Anad airbase north of Aden has fallen to forces loyal to the legitimate government after the deteriorating conditions in Ma’rbi for Houthis. A large number of Republican Guard members were seen surrendering their arms and military equipment to Arab coalition forces. All signs indicate the Republican Guards have surrendered their forces to the popular resistance forces, resistance press center reported.
