Reliable reports from inside the Iranian regime indicate that further advances being made by the Free Syrian Army and numerous defections among senior government officials of this country have all lead to increasing divisions and doubts in the mullahs’ Supreme Security Council.
These rifts and suspicions are over the amount of assistance and investments that should actually be provided to the Assad dictatorship.
Senior Revolutionary Guards officials however, including commander of the regime’s armed forced forces Firuzabadi, IRGC commander Jafari and IRGC intelligence chief mullah Hossein Taeb, who is also one of Khamenei’s’ main men, have stressed if Assad is overthrown, the mullahs’ regime will be the first loser and deadly consequences will follow.
At a session of the regime’s Supreme Security Council, these senior officials stressed the process of assistance to Assad’s regime must be increased before it is too late.
Therefore, units belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah have begun providing security for sensitive organizations in Syria and the IRGC has increased its presence in Syria aimed at protecting the Assad regime.
