On December 23, 1948, Hideki Tojo, Japanese premier during World War II , was sentenced to death.
He was an ally of Germany and Italy and intended to dominate China and its northeastern region. Along with 6 colleagues he was sentenced to death by the Allies court on November 12, 1948.
He once attempted to commit suicide, but was saved.
Sixteen other Japanese officials were imprisoned.
