US Rep. Ted Poe; Iranian protesters should stand for their rights

US House Rep. Judge Ted Poe of Texas on Jan. 2, 2018 tweeted support for the uprisings in Iran. In his tweet, Judge Poe said “I urge the peaceful protests to stand up for basic human rights and freedoms. I look forward to the day the people of Iran walk through the streets carrying the flags of freedom and liberty.”
In another tweet, Ted Poe added “As we start a new year, at least 12 Iranians lay dead in the street killed by a murderous Ayatollah intent on keeping illegitimate power. The people of Iran must decide who their leader will be through free and fair elections.”
“The people have the right to peaceful protest, however the corrupt regime has not honored their own laws, shutting down social media to prevent new protests from organizing”, Judge Poe added.
Mr. Poe also said “For years, the Iranian government has oppressed its own people, routinely denying basic freedoms and human…”.
